The speed of USB ports and Thunderbolt ports of each version
USB 1.0 comes in two versions:
USB 1.0 Low Speed Theoretical maximum speed is 1.5Mbit/s or 0.1875MBytes/s.
USB 1.0 Full Speed Theoretical maximum speed is 12Mbit/s or 1.5MBytes/s.
USB 1.1 (i.e. USB 1.0 Full Speed) has a theoretical maximum speed of 12Mbit/s or 1.5MBytes/s.
USB 2.0 comes in two versions:
USB 2.0 Full Speed (i.e. USB 1.1) Theoretical maximum speed is 12Mbit/s or 1.5MBytes/s.
USB 2.0 Hi Speed Theoretical maximum speed is 480Mbit/s or 60MBytes/s.
USB 3.0 has a theoretical maximum speed of 5Gbit/s or 600MBytes/s.
USB 3.1 comes in two versions:
USB 3.1 Gen 1 (known as USB 3.0) has a theoretical maximum speed of 5Gbit/s or 600MBytes/s.
The theoretical maximum speed of USB 3.1 Gen 2 is 10Gbit/s or 1250MBytes/s.
USB 3.2 comes in three versions:
USB 3.2 Gen 1 (i.e. USB 3.1 Gen 1) has a theoretical maximum rate of 5Gbit/s or 600MBytes/s.
USB 3.2 Gen 2 (known as USB 3.1 Gen 2) has a theoretical maximum rate of 10Gbit/s or 1250MBytes/s.
USB 3.2 Gen 2 x 2 (i.e. USB 3.1 Gen 2 dual-channel, Type-C port only) Theoretical maximum speed is 20Gbit/s or 2500 Mbytes /s.
The theoretical maximum rate of USB 4 (Type-C port only) is 40Gbit/s or 5,000 mbytes /s.
Thunderbolt comes in three versions:
The maximum theoretical speed of Thunderbolt 1 is 10Gbit/s or 1250 mbytes /s.
The maximum theoretical speed of Thunderbolt 2 is 20Gbit/s or 2500 mbytes /s.
The maximum theoretical speed of Thunderbolt 3 is 40Gbit/s or 5,000 mbytes /s.
Note: Actual transmission speed depends on many things, and it is difficult to achieve theoretical speed.
1. Unit conversion: 1Byte=8bit.
2, software requirements must be correctly installed related drivers.
3. Hardware requirements Both parties must support the same version of USB or Thunderbolt port. If different, the transmission speed of the party with the lower speed is the benchmark.
4. Even if the USB or Thunderbolt ports on both sides are of the same version, different storage media have different speeds.
5, Flash based (Flash chip) storage device speed depends on the type of flash chip (SLC/MLC/TLC/QLC) and grade, master chip, cache and other factors. The read/write speed of a typical mechanical hard disk depends on factors such as the number of platters, rotational speed, and cache.
6, the USB interface has a variety of colors, black USB interface is the USB2.0 interface, blue USB interface is the USB3.0 interface (USB 3.1 Gen 1), green and red USB interface is the USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface, yellow USB interface is the USB2.0 interface supporting shutdown charging. It's called Powered USB.
7, the appearance of USB interface has Type-A (commonly seen in computers), Type-B (commonly seen in printers), Type-C (commonly seen in new models of computers and mobile phones) and Mini USB (mini-B interface is commonly seen in scanners), Micro USB (micro-B interface is commonly seen in Android phones) and so on.
